Documentary Shorts

Spitfire 944 (Review)

I found this short a little boring. Though it did include a WW2 survivor, the entire short was a about a small video, and the short clip of the person inside the video. It probably would have been better if there was a cool story behind it, but the Spitfire 944 clip was just an 83-year-old man saying "Well I'll be damned" the entire way.

Rehearsing a Dream (Review)

This was my favorite short! It was about these extremely talented teens passionate about their art, and they were entered into a week long competition. Though it seems as if this video would be about teens fighting against each other, it was really a video about teens finding themselves. In this day and age, sports are the thing to do. If you have any other pastimes, you are considered odd. But when all the people came together, they realized that they weren't so different and they found the courage to demonstrate their passion with pride. I loved this inspiring short.

Silences (Review)

It's sad to know that some people don't know their parent(s). This fantastic short was about a 30-something-year-old man named Octavio, and his search to find his father. I liked this short because it made me realize how lucky I am to know who my parents are, and it inspired me to chase after my dream, and know that I could achieve it.

The Blood of the YingZhou District (Review)

This sad short was about the orphans in China who have AIDS. All their villagers shunned them because they had the disease, or their parents had the disease. I felt so awful that these kids, most of them around the age of four, had to live this way. But the short takes an uplifting turn when the American doctors came and treated the kids. Sadly, not everyone was as lucky(?) as these kids, for the doctors couldn't help everyone. This video made me want to help donate money for AIDS awareness! FIGHT AIDS!!!

Phoenix Dance (Review)

I was stunned when I saw this clip. It was about a one-legged dancer, but he was even better than me, and I have 2 legs! It's another one of those great inspiring clips.
