Chris, played by Will Smith, is a poor man trying to support a family of three, but he is happy with his life. Unfortunately it slowly starts going down hill from there. Chris is a salesman, who sells a medical device that can take bone scans, but it costs twice as much as his competition, and it is a luxury in most hospitals. He has trouble selling them, and eventually his wife leaves Chris and their son Christopher. Even though Christopher, played by Jaden Smith, has lost his mom, he and his dad are still happy until more and more things start to fall apart. So far this may seem tragic but it has some outstanding emotional moments. It is heart-lifting to see the bond between father and son. They have so much love for each other even though they are going through so much hardship.
This movie is unbelievably great and incredibly sad. I am not the kind of person who watches sad movies for entertainment, but this is definitely a movie you want to see. Will Smith succeeded in being a smart, caring, and loving father. He is usually optimistic about his situation in life. He only gets really upset once when they are evicted from their hotel and his son is tired and confused.
I think Will Smith steals the show in this movie even though his son Jaden is a fabulous actor too. Jaden told surprisingly funny jokes and made other funny comments. Who knew a few knock-knock jokes could brighten up a whole scene? The thing I don’t like about Christopher’s roll is that he swears once and, as cute as it may be, I thought that it was inappropriate for this family movie.
The end of the movie really touched me. I won’t give it away, but I’ll say that it is strongly moving. I suggest you go see this movie even if you are like me and sad movies don’t particularly appeal to you. If you’re soft hearted, maybe bring some tissues.

Derek says go see this movie.
