Flying Lessons put me to sleep... literally. The beginning was so slow it made me wonder if they forgot the camera was rolling...I thought the idea of the story, a girl who lost herself in the fast moving city of LA, then returns home to her scattered mother in debt, was good, although I was confused why it was chosen to be the opening night film.

The acting was definitely great, really great. It seemed as if the story just had too much going on: the mother and her boyfriend, Sophie and the guy from the bus, Sophie and her boyfriend, the relationship of Sophie and her mother, and Sophie and Harry... it was all just hard to keep track of. The worst thing about all of this happening is that none of it related to each other. A nice thing about it was seeing Santa Ynez, it was almost as if that was one of the characters too. But honestly, I really thought it was sort of... terrible. Extremely boring!

I give it a 2.
