How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying

by Marandah

Last Saturday, Lia and I attended the Santa Barbara Youth Ensemble Theater's production of How to Succeed..., and were blown away by the level of energy and commitment the young actors brought to the stage. SBYET is a group of elite students who attend the Adderley School for the Performing Arts, but ready to take on a bigger venue and more rigorous rehearsals. This gives these kids an introduction to the professional acting world at a young age, preparing them for the future. As a result, How to Succeed was a major success!

Everything about How to Succeed was on the level you would expect from at least a high school production. The set, light, and prop changes were, of course, unflawed, but the true fun of How to Succeed... came from the energy they brought to the table. It was amazing to see how some of the younger actors had grown since last year's Damn Yankees, but also to recognize some new faces in in the ensemble. All in all, I loved How to Succeed, and I can't wait to see what SBYET does next!
