Bella

Bella was an extraordinary film, that tells the story of two completely different people with one thing in common--they live in the same town(New York), and work at the same restaurant, but somehow they change each others lives in a big way.  This was a very heart-warming story, about how people deal with difficulties, and how in one day you can end up summing up your entire life, and fixing your life also.

Interview by audience, to Alejandro the director, and Eduardo, the main actor
(This interview has been modified slightly.)

Q: Where was this film shot and how much time did you have?
A: It was shot in the heart of New York. 36 rough days.

Q: What are some other films you have made?
A: I have only made two other shorts Bocho and Waiting for Trains.

Q: What film school did you go to and did you always know you wanted to make film?
A: Since I was eight years old I have had the passion to make films, but as a poor Latin American I had lots of troubles in high school and college.  After finishing high school I then went to college and, because I had no money and I wanted to make films, I had to sleep in the mail room at my college, and use the school's equipment from 8 p.m. at night to 7 a.m. in the morning. Hours were harsh and money was scarce, but it was fun.

Q: Why did you bring your film here and how did you find out about our festival?
A: Well, after we won in the Toronto film festival we got many offers. SBIFF was one of them and we figured why not.
