“You can do something about tomorrow.”

Hi!!!!
Well I forgot to tell you about it in Friday’s blog, but in the evening we saw Al Gore and Davis Guggenheim (the director of An Inconvenient Truth) get the Attenborough Award!!!! On the red carpet, Alexa, Eli, and I interviewed Michael deGruy (the moderator of Al Gore and Davis Guggenheim), James Cameron (last year’s recipient and presenter of the award), and last but definitely not least, Al Gore!!!
They all were walking by really fast and we barely even saw Davis Guggenheim and his wife fly by. Then Al Gore walked right past us with a mob of reporters chasing after him. I was so disappointed, and then all of a sudden Carol Marshall (the Director of Publicity for the Film Festival) pulled him back to talk with us. Thank you SOOOOOO much, Carol!!!!
Well anyway we asked him what our generation could do to help. First he said to learn about it. Then we have to argue about it. We have to respectfully demand an explanation from people who think global warming is a lie. When people can’t give a good answer anymore, we will be able to change the world. We asked him if he was happy with the results his movie has been getting and he said that it was a small step, but in the right direction and he has high hopes for the future.
It was really neat to talk to him and it was kind of amazing to shake hands with a vice president. But what was even more amazing was that he is just a regular person, a regular person who made a big difference. It just kind of hit me while they were talking that it could be you or me making a difference, taking a stance, changing the world. And it kind of hit me: that’s what I want to do! I don’t think that you have to be famous or something to make a difference. That’s not what it’s about, I don’t think.
