Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace is the story of a young man named Wilberforce that, throughout his life, has been fighting the slave trade in England in the 1800’s. But succeeding in this task is much more than it appears. After failing once, Wilbur decides that trying once more is the only way he can find his true self again. This movie tells the story behind the song that we all love.
The two actors, Michael Gambon and Albert Finney made the movie. But without the support of the solidly built Ioan Ruffudd as Wilberforce and Benedict Cumberbatch as Benedict Pitt, there would be no movie. All the actors clearly display how they were chosen to play their roles. The story is unforgettable and one of incredible interest. The acting is beyond belief. The relationships between the characters are forceful and extraordinary. It’s a perfect film for the film festival’s centerpiece.
The only thing they didn’t get right was the timing. It was about 20 minutes too long. If there had been one less parliament scene, the movie would have launched itself into being one of my most favorite films in the festival.
