Blindsight and Blenders

Hey, Derek here. I just wanted to say I had an awesome first day at the film festival. One of the first things I want to tell you is, that when I first got to our trailer John handed us our own business cards. OK that’s pretty cool. Then Eli, Alexa and I went back to the Hotel SB and got some more posters to put on our trailer. Charlotte came by a little later too. Anyway, we headed to the theatre were we met up with Jackie, Alissa and David. John, Eli and Charlotte headed to a different theater to see Klunkerz. The rest of us went in to see Blindsight. It’s a great movie about blind Tibetan kids who climb 23,000 feet up a mountain called Lhakpa Ri. We saw the producer of Blindsight and started talking to her. She was very friendly and we had a good conversation.  She gave us more information about the movie and the trip up the mountain. It was like watching the movie behind scenes. Because of the interview we only had ten minutes to eat lunch so we stopped by Blenders in the Grass®. I got a Banana Smoothie and we rushed back to the theatre. I drank it all while watching a double feature film. The two films were Recycled Life, which was about a “clan” of people living in a landfill. We also saw Ayamye. a film about something good happening in Africa. As a SBMS student I think I have the right to say, finally. It’s about time someone makes a movie about Africa doesn’t totally shatter my spirit. Well anyway, talk to you tomorrow.
