Hi my name is Miranda. I am a 7th grader at Santa Barbara Middle School. I am a Reporter for the “Power of Story” team.

I love playing volleyball, swimming, and writing. I’ve been playing volleyball for only four years, but I love it and I’m so glad I found it. On the other hand, I swim just for fun and love to be in the ocean and have the sand in my toes at the beach. Whenever I can find the extra time I will write freely, I love letting my imagination flow onto the page and creating my own story that I can share with others.

One film that I really love is Pan’s Labyrinth. I love this movie because of the reality and fantasy blending together. It inspires me as a writer and I really like how it engages me into the story. I love writing, interviewing, and watching movies so I love the fact that we can do this at school. I’m really excited to interview people and see if I can get any stories out of them. I’m so glad I found out about Teen Press and got this amazing opportunity.

My verse is to try my hardest at school and at any task I’m given.

An interview that really stuck with me was Jennifer Lawrence because I love how she was just herself. One of the questions she was asked had her tell about a real “Girl On Fire” that she met while filming the Hunger Games. She was an extra and had burn marks all over her face from a tragic accident. She said that she was now proud to be called the “Girl On Fire.” Jennifer Lawrence told about how this was the first real time she thought her job meant anything. This was very inspiring to me.
