Hi my name is Deryn. I am an eighth grader at Santa Barbara Middle School.

I think that Teen Press is a unique opportunity because we get to interview and meet important, inspiring, and inspirational people who have made a difference in our community as well as our nation. Although it is just as amazing to interview normal people to hear and compare their thoughts. I think that it is cool how we can ask questions that professional reports cannot because we are kids. The best question is when it makes the person being interviewed think real deep about their answer or makes them get a big smile that shows that their answer has true meaning.

On Team 21 three interviews I hope to do are Single-Track High, Earth Day, or Taste of the Nation. Single-Track High would be a unique opportunity because we would get to be learn the entire process of being a facilitator, who gets to set up the stage, run the program, introduce the speakers, and do the question and answers. Earth Day would be fun because we would get to ask questions of visitors and people running the booths and see what many peoples input and thought are on the same question. I love to watch cook competitions on TV and see what the result turns out to be, it would be interesting to actually see the whole process that they do not show on TV, the behind the scenes, the feelings and thinking processes of the chefs.
Another interview idea that would be amazing would be to go to the Presidential Inauguration. This would be fun because we would get to ask the crowd questions, get to meet the president, and hear his opinions on an important day of history.

Some of my hobbies are playing sports such as soccer, lacrosse, swimming, ice-skating, volleyball, hiking and biking. I also like doing art, being outdoors, traveling, baking, and going to the beach. I like spending time with family and friends.
